Japan Innovation Park started to support the data-management Proof of Concept to visualize CO2 emissions across manufacturing processes with the aim of transforming into a sustainable and law-carbon economy conducted by NTT, NTT Communications, SIEMENS and Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne which is a private Swiss non-profit organization managed under the national project【Switzerland Innovation】funded by The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) Swiss Government. The implementation of this Proof of Concept will start from January 2021. Japan Innovation Park General Incorporated Association (JIP) supports this proof of concept for NTT Communications, NTT, SIEMENS and Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne between Switzerland and Japan. JIP will enhance innovation between Switzerland and Japan and support Japanese firms for R&D, proof of concept and open-innovation in Switzerland.

Swiss Smart Factory which has created Industry4.0-focused ecosystem and environment at Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne has started a new project called “Lighthouse Project Industry 4.0” This project is supported by more than 40 global Industry 4.0 players and they are working on this project together.

By joining Lighthouse Project Industry 4.0, NTT Software Innovation Center and NTT Communications plan to develop the test environment to share highly confidential data which can be securely referred to from within the EU and Japan by using “IDS connector” which is the core technology of the European data platform “GAIA-X” and ”Smart Data Platform (SDPF)” which embodies the trust concept of sharing highly confidential data securely. NTT Communications and NTT Software Innovation Center also plan to assess the practicality and operability of an international structure for appropriately controlling the access rights of each data based on related laws and contracts.

■About the European data platform “GAIA-X” and “IDS Connector”
“GAIA-X” is an initiative announced by the German and French governments in October 2019 to build decentralized data infrastructure for data sharing and utilization protected by European data laws.

“IDS Connector” is provided by the International Data Spaces Association which is the core element of a data ecosystem designed to facilitate the secure exchange of data between trusted parties. It is deployed in the GAIA-X infrastructure as well as in clouds, on edge computers or on devices, etc. that send and receive data, it provides settings for managing access to specific data based on laws and contracts.

NTT Communications started the data-management proof of concept with “IDS Connector” from October 1st, 2020. (Please refer to the URL below)
